Why does my girlfriend cry when we hug?

i've been seeing my girlfriend for five months and within the last week she has become very quiet and the other day in the kitchen I hugged her and she started crying. she says that nothings wrong but I don't understand what would make her cry?

I second what that one guy said. Maybe she has not been hugged a lot. I have not.. well I could say that I did not feel like I ever had someone who wanted even to touch me before I met my man. So to be able to touch and to be touched is very emotional thing for me. First - when one touches or hugs there should be response. Now if my boyfriend would response by shaking my hand off or pushing me or simply doing nothing - or even deciding to often sleep his back turned towards me - then I would have easily cried. Or if I was the only one giving the gentle touches - like while making love - I would think me not very desirable to be touched - and I could cry for that too. I have had that experience so I know. But I cried quietly then. I think I was too needy for the gentle moments - I would have seriously wanted to live the cuddle all the hours of the days. The thing is to have very patient man who will not scare away from tears. The other thing is to be able to understand yourself that - let me put it this way - people turn whichever way they just happen to do while they sleep. Some people like me are for some reasons or simply due to personality - extensively sensitive and will feel silently hurt about things that really never happen to hurt them. That said - when someone feels hurt - its real - tears are real. I could not get enough gentle touches - and it was not because he was not giving me enough, it was because I had never before had anything so wonderful. Part of me could not know how to be in between the hugs. I turned my caresses into sensual touches to really show to him that I need the responses more. Well that said - I'll add this - I also cried when he suddenly was in the mood to hug me. I even cried when I got an orgasm, because that was the most lovely feeling ever. Why - again - because it felt so good. Some of us turn out that way if we was completely ignored before.

uhmm.. to be honest, the only thing I can think of that would make a girl act that way is if she was planning on breaking up with you, or if she was about to tell you she cheated on you.. if you're in a happy loving relationship any normal girl would never do such a thing. I'm sorry =/

Maybe she's going through a tough time in her life. I'm going through one of those times so if my boyfriend did that, I would start crying because I need a hug so badly but I can't open up as easily because I love him.

Some people are emotional like that. Like they will cry with the smallest nice thing.

Maybe your girlfriend hasn't been hugged a lot in her lifetime.

Hmm for those who say this is not normal.. In my case since i was a little girl, i got lots of cuddles from my mom, sister and brothers, and family in general

And everytime i would cry, there was no real.. how do i put it.. emotion behind the hug? As in the moment i might've felt super happy or just plain fine or plain happy, and cried anyways

As far as i know in my case, i'm HSP so I don't know if this has anything to do and if it helps. But i still haven't found the reason behind this unnecessary out of nowhere crying when i get hugged. I think it could be from my HSP but i'm not really sure. I hope this gives you a bit of insight but perhaps its just a matter of sensitivities.

Something is seriously wrong. Woman are emotional creatures, as we all know. But this is really out of the ordinary, unless she's pregnant, this is strange. We sometimes don't like to burden others with our problems, especially those we love. and sometimes we need a little push to open up. Don't just say OK and walk away, try to get her to open up. If she doesn't at that moment give her time. Most importantly: let her know and feel that you genuinely care. ~Best of luck
