Shall I approach him first a second time?

Hey y’all, I’m a college student and lately have been seeing a cute guy in one of my lectures once a week. Whenever we see each other, we have this awkward eye contact moments where one would look and then quickly look away as soon as we locked eyes. By his looks I can tell that he is about 2 or 3 years older than me which is honestly quite intriguing, yet I put all my courage together last week and approached him in the hallway. I was asking him just a random question about the lecture and he replied very friendly and smiled during our conversation. I was so nervous you have no idea, so that after we talked about the lecture I said thank you, smiled and went to my friends to basically calm down😂. I know I should have at least introduced myself but that was my first time I’ve talked to a guy I find attractive first so that I completely forgot. I then noticed that he smiled at me multiple times from a distance and looked at me quite often. I sat behind him in the lecture and he found 3 little excuses to turn around and each time he smiled.
My plan now is to approach him a second time, introduce me and all that, so I might even end up sitting next to him - problem is he’s usually with 2 friends. But I’m so afraid to do so. I have no idea how I should go up to him. I can’t just go up to him saying Hi my name is!!! Can I? I will feel so nervous. And I’m worried he would think i am annoying or wonder what’s up with me talking to him all the time.
Any advice on how I can lose the fear of talking to him again?

One of my big regrets in college is not being "brave enough" to approach girls I wanted to meet, for fear of rejection or something else. So you end up never knowing what "could have happened". Since he's always "running with a pack" it's difficult to get close. So, here's what I would do, and had it been done to me, I'd have LOVED it ! It's smart, it's sexy and it works. Write your number or contact info on a small piece of paper along with a note saying "you're never alone to talk to, so if you'd like that, find me soon". Fold it up. Walk by him and bend down like you're picking something up and hand it to him saying "I think you dropped this", smile and keep moving. Wave your hand without turning around for extra effect. If you don't hear from him after that, he's not worth it !!

What are you waiting for? It's smart, and it's sexy. But you can NOT be nervous, and you must do it smoothly. If you can glance at his friends and hold it for a few seconds, even better. Be sure you walk away at a normal pace and wave, but DO NOT turn around. It will work, but like I said, if it doesn't, he's clueless and not who you want.

I would try not to look at it as a matter of summoning courage since the fear doesn't make any sense. He's a human being, you're human being, socializing is normal in this context, and what do you have to lose by it? Seems like you have more to lose if you don't. I think that's a better way of gradually overcoming these fears than looking at it as something which requires epic courage. Try to relax and not see it as a big deal. "Whatever, let's chat" -- that sort of mindset.

Maybe you could find an easier way, like adding him on facebook or other social media.
Or you can approach him a second time and just say you forgot to introduce yourself and just say your name and chat a bit. Yeah, it is a bit scary because he's with 2 friends haha and I would be so nervous too. But what do you have to lose?
Even if he were to think you are annoying or something, you took your chance. And if he finds you interesting or cute and you introduce yourself, he might take the first step next time.

Next time you have class together, try and sit next to him that way it'll be easier to open a conversation with him. This way you two will get to know each other more and eventually hopefully go out! :)

If you don't get the chance to sit next to him, ask him for help or suggest to study together... etc.

Definitely do it. Motivate yourself by imagining him as your boyfriend.

You don't need to wait until you find him alone. You could, for instance, walk past him while he is sitting at his desk, and you could say 'Hi' while touching his shoulder briefly. That gives him the idea you are interested. Then you could wait to find him alone to introduce yourself.

Really, he should be approaching you! But it sounds like you could say practically anything and it would be fine. Calling him out playfully would be good- "hey there, I see you smiling at me all the time but you never come talk to me!" And then he'll be all shy and then you can be like "lol I'm blablah, what's your name?"

Something along those lines might work.
