Do guys over analyze?

Women over analyze all the time and can't stop thinking and rethinking about what a guy's actions and words mean. Guys do that at all, or do you stop thinking about it once things are said and done?

You might need to actually define what constitutes over-analyzing. It's also important to remember that thought processes are different for both men and women. Think of it this way. Put a table in the middle of a room. If a guy crossing the room comes to the table, he will go back to where he started, re-think about his approach, then cross the room going around the table. If a woman crossing the room comes to the table, she will stop right there, re-analyze the current situation and go around the table. The end result is still the same but the way each gender arrived at that conclusion is different. Of course this is only to illustrate thought processes. In reality the guy would shove the table out of the way, the girl would circle it a few times commenting on it's color and design, then get a guy to move it out of the way. *grin*

I think over-analyzing is about trying out different possibilities until you find one that fits the way you want things to be. May just be a by-product of a stubborn streak. :)

Haha. By over-analyze I mean thinking so much about every possibility and then dwelling on the negative outcomes/meanings. At least that is what I feel I do a lot. Other girls I know do the same thing. I feel like women tend to sabotage because they dwell on the negative. I guess my question is do men think that much about what they said/didn't say, or do/didn't do that they find something negative in almost everything? I am not a negative person at all! I just know I look at all angles.

I have a tendency to analyze every situation as much as possible so I am prepared for anything and aren't surprised by the outcome. I think that this thought process isn't gender specific and is more about the type of individuals we are.

I agree that it may not be gender specific, but person specific. I have a tendency to do the same thing. I look at as many angles of a situation to figure out everything that can go wrong. This way I can plan for it and be prepared to re-act should the situation arise. When something in a relationship happens that gives me pause, I think about all the negative things and the best way to approach it.

Men can over-analyze things; but not where it concerns a woman. Otherwise we will go insane... Let me let you in on a little secret that My father told me on my wedding day:

For a woman to live with a man, she has to love him a little, and understand him a lot. For a man to live with a woman, he has to love her with all his heart and soul - and avoid trying to understand her at all.

Even after all this time, women are still an enigma to me. I mean, there's something almost magical about a creature that can bleed for 7 days, and live, don't you think?

guys don't over-analyze which is why there tend to be so many misunderstandings and so much confusion between women and men. it's the reason that the two sexes don't understand each other. because one is too complex and the other is too simple.

guys will think about these things too and try to figure out the unsaid communication but I think we draw a conclusion fairly quickly and that's the end of it. we don't constantly second guess it and reanalyze it. but that's because we're able to think logically unlike women.

i can't speak for all guys but I constantly over analyze things, in fact my girlfriend keeps telling me to stop thinking, but its hard lol
