What exactly does it mean when you are "talking" to someone?

What does it mean when you are "talking" to someone? Is it like you are getting to know them or maybe deciding you want to date them? How about if you went on one date with someone and you talk to them/text them still, even though you don't know them that well and are not really friends with them, but have been on a date and still talk/text them? I am a little confused on the entire topic.

Sweetie, "talking" is generally described the stage where two people have an interest in each other whether it be in an indirect or direct way, but you're not dating or "together". An example would be if you and a guy talk a lot especially one-on-one and he has hinted in some way that he's attracted you (you'll just know), but you're not dating each other. It's that pre-dating thing of getting to know someone without the idealisms of romance and dating. The last two guys that I was interested in, they declared a obvious interest me first , but we were "just talking" and just friends. It's like a friendly crush, but no romance at all. Pretty simple. It's important that a girl recognizes this for what it is. That's why there's a lot of girls on this website with the question "what is he thinking, feeling, what does it mean, what's going on now?." If two people are just talking, it's just talking but an attraction is there. I hope you understand. :-)

Thank you. Yes. I know he likes me, but he said he was scared to date me more because he is close to my dad and if we didn't work out he didn't want it to be awkward around my dad (I heard this through a mutual friend). So I guess we would be "talking" since we call/text e/o every week or so and he sends me texts saying he is thinknig about me and all.

Well, if a guy is talking to you frequently by text message, it means:

1. You're talking about something he finds particularly interesting. Or,

2. He wants to sleep with you, sooner or later. (Probably sooner.) This scenario includes him wanting you as a girlfriend.

Option one isn't unheard of in straight guys, just uncommon. Think carefully about the content of your conversations. Is it something a man would be truly interested in? In the likely scenario of option two, decide whether you want to sleep with him or not. If you are leaning towards no, sever communications forthwith. If yes, organise another date :)

Sex does not have to be a factor so I disagree that a guy who is just talking to her, even if he's texting alot, does not mean he wants to sleep with her.

You'd have to give the context in which is was used. In my book, generally, talking means talking. There is no hidden meaning behind it, it just means someone is talking to something else. It could be two strangers, two lovers, a married couple, it doesn't matter.

Thats actuallly what happend to me and a guy.. after our date we ended up texting now and then.. but I would say it was "talking" if you feel he has intentions of dating you. if not then he could want to keep your friendship or to have a grl he can sleep with whenever. sad but true
