My boyfriend joked about hitting on other girls, what does that mean?

I know he meant it to be funny, but my last boyfriend cheated on me so I was shocked. I didn't want to overreact though, so I didn't say anything.

We've been a couple for only a month now, so it's really hard for me to tell why he said something like that. Also I don't know if I should bring it up again that it bothered me, I mean I clearly know that he was just joking, still I'm scared that I might be wrong. =(

Ok, he called me to tell me that he was just joking. He said that he sometimes forgets that I can be a little sensitive despite being very beat-up and funny most of the time. He promised not to make such jokes again...wow.

it doesn't mean anything, don't worry. I always tell my girlfriend how I'm "stuck" with her, how I want to get rid of her, but she knows I'm joking and we just play around with that. she knows I'm joking because I also tell her how much she means to me, so you know what he means by saying he was hitting on other girls by what he says and does at all other times

tell him what you think and feel ONCE. and make sure its in a relaxed environment with just the 2 of you. This is what can be called the warning shot so guys don't really mind it.

HOWEVER, bring it up more than once, and then you have a problem. Constantly bringing it up will show you don't trust him, which can kill relationships from the inside

I don't know how to do it. Should I tell him that it upset me or should I ask if he was really joking? I'm so happy when I'm with him and I can't image that he meant it in any other way than as a joke...but it's really bugging me.

just tell him it makes you uncomfortable and explain why, I'm sure if he knew this he would understand and do his best not to make jokes like that.

Thats not funny, it was disrespectful and you didn't like it. I would let it go for now, but if it happens again, you need to let him know that you don't like that.
