Boyfriend said "I love you" once, but hasn't said it since..

My boyfriend and I have been dating over six months (I'm mid-twenties, he's a few years older), and it has been amazing. He treats me fantastically and I never doubt that he cares about me. After biting my tongue for six months hoping he would say it, one evening I finally blurted `I love you' when I just couldn't keep it in any longer. He said it back, and it was a really wonderful moment. About a week later I said it again while in an intimate moment (I figured now it was out there it could be assumed it was okay to say to each other now), and he didn't say it back. A week or two later, the same thing happened (I just sort of pretended I didn't notice at the time). It has now been about a month since that first time we said it to each other, and he hasn't said it back since then. In every relationship in my past I've always been told I love you sooner than six months, and while I'm so glad he treats me very well, verbalizing those feeling is very important to me. I think the fact that he said it back to me the first time, and then never has since, has left me a little confused and not knowing what to think. .Any thoughts please?

I am sorry I can not answer you as a male can however I can tell you I can relate. I know that will not help you and I am sorry for that. I have been with my Boyfriend for up on 4 years now and he does the very same thing. The first time however I said it to him he patted me on the head. I felt like a puppy so? Now it has gotten to were I hardly ever say it out loud just mostly in my head and to be honest I kinda recent the feeling it gives me. Causes a bit of a rejection feeling to me. Well I hope you get this figured out long before I do. Personally I am about ready to give up all together as I need my love bucket refilled as well. My blessing to you on this.

My boyfriend did the samething to me, but I can say to you don't be sad. Actions speak louder than words. We as women are very emotional and can say I love you everyday, but even though they may not express it verbally, they do show their love. Communicating with you everyday, doing whatever you ask, asking if you ate or any other simple tasks we may overlook, these are all signs of love. Don't be sad because he didn't say it, the fact that he said it at all is huge. You've got a loving man on your hands, don't screw it up beause he doesn't say it. I'm sure if you pay attention he shows it all the time. :-)
