Is it a bad idea to go to a bar alone?

I've never done it before. this time i really want to. i dont want to ask my friends to go with me or anyone else. would it be a bad idea to do so? if i do it i plan on going to this bar and arcade place i like or maybe ill try somewhere new, probably just a bar and no arcade. i just wanna dress up and do something alone.

I live in north carolina. I've been to this bar a couple times and yes guys approach but have never done it disrespectfully, but i know its prob different when im not with anyone. I’ll do it and ill take y'all advice ill be careful and have fun at the same time. I don't know what my purpose is for doing this i just know i want to☺️ thanks guys helps a lot!

It's a good way to prove to yourself that you don't NEED current friends or a date to have a good time out on the town. But as a woman you of course want to keep your safety in mind, for instance, not getting so drunk that you can't execute a plan to get home safely. I guess you also have to be double aware of being followed after leaving the venue, or leaving drinks unattended, etc. But safety measures aside, I've had some of my best nights out going on my own, but I'm also more aware of my surroundings because I know I don't have the safety net of a group of friends. Just stay where the doormen can see you upon leaving the venue until you've made arrangements to get home, and don't bvw afraid to approach a member of staff if someone there is making you uncomfortable. In my bartending days I had to "save" a few girls who were out alone and couldn't shake a dodgy guy off them.

A lot will depend on where you live (country) and the area you live in.

you will have every guy trying to chat to you.

you then potentially have those with unsavoury thoughts.

this means things like never ever leaving a drink alone, if chatting to someone put it out of their reach but in sight at all times.

It would be good to say, yeah just do it, however safety, being streetwise and knowledge of what can happen is really critical and means you can relax in the bar.

also a lot depends on your experience of guys local to you and how much they hit on girls, treat them, say anything to in to a girls pants.

yeah go for it, but go in with lots of confidence and being fully aware of how things will likely be.

I think you should try it, just to see how it is :). No harm can come from that, if you just take some precautions. Like don't get actual drunk, since you have no one you trust to help you out. Be extra careful with your drink since you are the only one to notice if someone slips something into it. And get home in a safe manner, but this is valid for anyone going out.

I too live in NC but would go to ANY bar with a friend or friends. Guys think even as of today and yesterday, a girl is looking for something. Just how it goes. Be safe.

Possible scenario, a guy hits on you, he can see you're not interested, he persists, another steps in and tells him to get lost, oh what a nice and chilvarous thing to do!, nope, they planned it all in advance as soon as they saw you were on your own,,,

Depending where you live and the specific bar (for safety purposes), there's nothing wrong with it if you want to. You might get some more attention from guys because you're alone, but if you don't feel safe or a guy is being creepy, just inform the bouncer/staff.

Not to be sexist, but no. you should at least have one or two friends with you since you're a girl. The chance to get harassed by assholes/guys is quite big for girls. Even more when you're alone in a bar.
