Just recently bumped into and have been seeing a “friend” from high school and events for our kids. We are both married and haven’t seen each other in 10 years at least. I feel like I have mostly tried to avoid him or talking to him too much, but he always finds a way to ask me a question even if it’s just short comments. But I noticed him playing with his wedding ring while he was talking to me. Kind of pulling it off and on and I know at times I play with my wedding ring to, it just kind of felt odd for him to do it in the moment that we were speaking. Just kinda threw me off and made me feel uncomfortable

Probably reminding himself "she's still cute, but I'm married now". That, or just idly expressing nervousness by fiddling with something in his hands.

Probably just a nervous reaction. He may do that in many situations as it is always there. Wouldn't read too much into it.
