Not sure, but asking if someone has Valentine's days plans is from my view almost asking directly if someone is single or set haha, at least you should get that answered in most cases.

You need to set boundaries?
his response to you asking him if he has Valentines plans isn't surprising. If you find him attractive, you giving off signs whether you realize or not and asking about whether he has a Valentine's, why the fuck does that matter in the first place? You asked him for a reason. Him replying no, likely resulted in you wondering why this guy you find attractive doesn't have a woman in his life. You would have found it better if he said he did have plans, confirming that many women find him attractive just like you.
Saying you need to set boundaries now though is goofy AF. You should be keeping distance if you in relationship and find this guy attractive. You inviting trouble and think it gives you validation if he gives you attention. Truth be told though, guys will stick their dick in just about Anything, so don't get too confident.
I think he was just telling you that he probably didn't have any Valentine's plans because he didn't have a girlfriend
