What does it mean if me and my male friend text for more than 1 hour?

We had text so much and the conversation never gets dry. We call each other friends, but some days we friends, somedays we act like couple and some others we discuss about shows that we like, we call each other nicknames all the time, some times we even flirt but we still friends. Are we just friends even if we call each other friends?

Maybe ask him a hypothetical question, such as 'Do you think I'm pretty?' If he says yes you could break the ice with a joking 'But I'm not your type right?' You're basically handing him the opportunity to tell you how he feels without directly approaching it. If he says yes to both then you could maybe then let the conversation go the way of 'well I like you, do you like me... maybe more than just friends?'
