Is she trying to show interest?

(2021-22) I moved to a new school last year and throughout the year I got to know one of the girls in my class pretty well. Throughout last year I would catch her looking at me and then she would abruptly look down. At the end of the year she told me how greatful she was to get to know me and how she couldn’t wait for next year… (2022-23) This year we started talking a lot more and she is always offering to help with anything I need in class. We also chat a lot over text. When ever someone says something funny or dumb in class and we all laugh she always looks at me. Now when I see her looking at me she holds eye contact.

I don't know maybe it’s my imagination and I’m just hoping it’s true. But what do y’all think is she trying to show interest? Does she like me? Should I ask her or would that reck a good friendship?
