That's my point, they never meant to flirt with you, but they did with the other women, so they come across as relaxed with them but not with you. I don't mean to sound so blunt but as a man that's done exactly that, this seems to follow that same logic.

Ok. I answered your question, but you kept on telling me that you know better, which is fine as it's your question. I gave you my perspective based on my own personal experience - I don't think he was deliberately flirting; I think he didn't mean to. However, if you don't like that opinion then an alternative is that he was nervous and ran away because of that.
