Guys, What makes you want to approach a woman?

Recently, I have had guys approach me and compliment me. It could be simple as my hair, nails, or my smile. I say thank you and that’s usually the end of the interaction. Compliments are nice but when I feel a mutual interest it makes me wonder why the conversation didn’t go further. Then it made me wonder what makes a guy feel comfortable to approach or attempt to date a woman beyond the physical? Are there cues in body language or is it just a leap of faith for men?

If I muster up the courage, it would probably be their looks and how their vibe is.
Much more likely to go to someone smiley than not, or someone who looks like they are having fun.
But looks is the main one, if I'm attracted and am in no fear mode, then I'll try approach

Generally I wait for a woman to express some level of interest. Even if it's just the look.

In the old days I think an women would do something unsubtle to express interest like intentionally dropping her handkerchief. Too bad that fell out of fashion.
