Yes, I might not notice him in regular situations but if we talked and his personality is nice/kind/funny then It's absolutely fine!

Everybody has a specific preference but I'd say most people drop their "type" when they meet someone who has an attractive personality.

Still taller than me so I don’t consider that to be short. Short would be shorter than myself, and I’ve never met anyone that short other than children.
