Do you like me and I love you?

"So, I was helping my friend study for an exam when he noticed a sculpture in my house. He asked where I got the sculpture and if I had gotten it from here. I replied, 'I think my mom got it in Rome.' He then said, 'Oh, I love you. I mean, I love it, I love it.' I just snickered. We continued talking, and at some point, I mentioned something about traveling. I thought he misunderstood what I said, so he asked, 'Do you like me?' I had to repeat what I said, and he simply replied with 'Oh.' Do you think he meant what he said, or was he mistaken?"

We known each other for your years. He told me he liked me and why he liked me when he was under the influence before. I dismissed it because he was a bit drunk. Recently had a conversation about relationships and marriage and how he felt about it. Then he asked what my plans are for the future and if I’m going to stay in the same town.
