Why do women in their 40’s and older will flirt with me, give eye contact and smile at me. Women my age or younger avoid me and give no eye contact?

Maybe because they actually find you attractive or they’re desperate to meet someone because they know their time has more than likely passed meeting someone. Maybe they feel as though younger men aren’t worth it. There’s a lot of possibilities.

Because women at that age are miserable and men at their age dont want them so the only thing they can do is flirt with younger guys, I avoid them at all cost , why on earth for old ladies?

The demographic you're talking about is an underserved one. Women over 40 typically have to go on the offense to get a guy. Just go with it man if you two get along.
