I'd say most people are simply on auto pilot and scrolling through social media out of habit or addiction to really pay attention to whether or not the account is run by a man or a woman. True, some women attract mainly men, and some men attract mainly women -- if they have perceivably good looks and their content is agreeable to their audience. If you notice that someone is pretty much only following you and maybe a few others, and paying only you so much attention, then maybe that might mean something, but usually people just enjoy social media for what it's worth.

I only watch someone's stories religiously if I'm a) close friends with them b) into them or c) interested in what they post. I don't watch everyone I follow's stories REGULARLY. So if I'm watching regularly, you bet it's because I have some platonic, business or romantic interest.

But other people might just watch anyone's stories. So it's not cut and dry.

I've also noticed that the guys who are crushing on me (they've eventually let me know in real life or asked me out) are usually the ones watching my stories first.
