Question for bartenders/waitresses?

I know in general bartenders are supposed to be friendly and maybe even harmlessly flirt to give good customer service and get good tips and all. Like smile, call customers honey/babe, give good service etc. But they wouldn't usually ask for your number/give you their number though right? That would be more along the lines of actual interest right?

MOST people aren’t going to want your number if there isn’t genuine interest. Most are smart enough to not give their number out to someone whose a weirdo they know better then that.

So let’s spot fake flirting when someone’s just wanting tips. It seems forced and fake maybe acting over the top. If the smiles seem fake, brief touches, calling you babe, honey, etc too many times are all signs that someone’s just trying to fluff you up for tips.

What shows genuine interest? Also keep in mind it’s a case by case basis. If you genuinely feel attracted ask her out… see what happens. But. Let’s get to the good signs shall we.

Long even deep touches, most people feel uncomfortable touching someone they don’t feel attracted to for long periods of time. If someone puts their hand on your shoulder for instance and leaves her hand there that’s definitely a green flag right there that there is some level of genuine interest. Just a short light touch may not mean anything more then being friendly or fake flirting but longer touches.

Notice things like you’re being treated better then others despite not being a super high tipper. Maybe offering free stuff on the house, more attentive to you, your refills, etc. If it’s busy and you’re feeling like the star of the show yeah that’s a pretty good sign if you’re paying attention to other customers not getting the same treatment as you are.

Conversations feel genuine now if it’s not busy someone may casually chat with customers to pass the time friendly conversation with nothing deeper. Seeming that there is a genuine interest in you more then just small talk over random stuff. So keep a eye out for eye contact and what the conversation is about.

Complements that feel more personal. Calling you babe, honey, and darling, etc. Ehh not the best sign. But if she says she really likes something about you that’s more about you. Still could be being friendly and even fake flirty but it’s more of a sign then anything.

Biggest one? She directly tells you she’s single. She wants your number and/of wants to give you her number. Last thing most women are going to do is hand their number out to some weirdo or at least someone they aren’t attracted to. They can fake flirt all day long they’re not giving their number out. So if someone does that assume there’s interest

waiters do not call me babe nor "sweety" nor flirt nor give numbers. only friendly service not any of that.
