Asking out a barista. How?

Long story short, I am a huge Starbucks fiend. I go probably 3-4 times a week.

There is a barista that I see fairly often at one of the Starbucks that I frequent. To be honest, she is very average in the looks department, but I find her attractive. She is always very nice, and gave me a free pastry the first time that I met her. We always make small talk and I just have a good feeling in my gut about her. She just gives off those good vibes. All of you guys out there know what I'm talking about.

Should I go for it? I want to, but I don't know if I have the balls. I've never asked out a barista, bartender, or waitress before. How do I go about it?

If any of you have successfully asked out a barista or waitress, I would love your input. All answers are welcome. Any baristas out there, please chime in too.

Every Starbucks environment and vibe is different so use your own judgement, but I personally think a little note is really cute or even taking the bullet and being direct (maybe after talking about the weekend, what she does outside of work, etc)

Other people were quite negative here, and I get where they and you are coming from, but there is the possibility that she might also be interested in you.
From per perspective, even if there is no policy around asking out a customer, she probably fears that asking you out when potentially you're just being nice/friendly to her and only sees her as a barista (vs. a woman) is unprofessional of her. Esp. when a customer is a regular, baristas usually feels like the customer is just being friendly as "human beings" and can't make them feel uncomfortable for coming

I tried & failed miserably, the Manager was the biggest f***ing cockblocker ever. Honestly, if you have a pretty good feeling then that means more likely I would go for it. You have nothing to really lose.
