Do women really have better peripheral vision?

I read a long time ago that females have better peripheral vision then males because of some evolutionary reason. I always wondered if this is true. I tried looking it up but I find sources that say this is true and other sources that say its false.. so my results are inconclusive.

What are you experiences about this? I know that in general men are known to check out women more then the other way around. Maybe its because women use their peripheral vision to check men out?

How good is your peripheral vision? When I look at someone indirectly I can tell who they are.. I can't tell what they are looking at though. However when they move their eyes I can tell since your eye is white with a dark spot...

Please let me know the answer girls... and guys lol

I voted they do because I had just read an article about it. The article was saying that although woman spend more time checking out a guy's body, it's less noticeable because they can look at someone's face and body at the same time, where as a guy tends to have to look up and down. It also said that's why women spend less time looking in cupboards for things.

I don't know how scientific this is but I think it's interesting, nonetheless.

I have terrible vision in general though, so maybe I'm not the best person to ask.

you mean like you are nearsighted? how does your sight change though when you look at things out of the corner of your eye?

I don't think we do..haha. I think it is probably the person in general who has better vision in general. Maybe? ha ha I have never checked a guy out with my 'peripheral' vision LOL I don't even think I check guys out lol...I just look at everyone as the same..Idk I'm weird ha ha I just don't go 'damn he's hot!' and turn my head haha

I'd say it's very true, speaking from experience. Women are much better at finding things, noticing things that go on in the background etc.

While men have a better dept vision.

It's also the reason men always get caught checking out other women, and women hardly ever get caught. Because women actually look more than the other way around.

Not just me. Scientific research. A women can stand 5 feet from you and insect your crotch. Because of our tunnel vision, we have to avert our eyes to look at her breasts.

I have read that apparently women have more rods, cones, receptors - whatever in the retinas. Therefore yes, their peripheral vision would be slightly better than a guy's. Since everyone is crying over the answers in all of the medical journals, might as well say that it just "depends on the person."

It probably isn't that big of a deal though. I imagine that even if it is better. It doesn't differ by very far.

Women have terrible peripheral vision actually and depth. Compared to men. Men were the hunters so it makes sense we'd need peripheral and depth to properly hunt (as well as avoid being hunter).
