Once a week at the gym, I see this guy. I don’t know how it started, but he’s become a bit of a crush. We sneak glances at each other a lot. At the beginning of his workout, he positions himself two machines down from the cardio machine I’m using. Since I’m there first, I suspect he’s intentionally placing himself close to me. I can't help but wonder why he doesn’t opt for the one right next to mine. I’m not sure if he’s interested, but I am.
How do I approach him when he has his headphones on and regularly uses his phone? The next time I see him and he’s two machines down, I want to stop my machine, move next to him, and start a conversation. Something like, “Sorry to interrupt your workout, but I want to tell you that I see you here on Mondays only. I figured I’d just come say hi to you since there seems to be some awkward tension between us. I don’t know if you feel the same way, but I hope this alleviates it.” Or what do I say because I'm definitely not waiting for him to make the first move any longer.
Also, am I reading too much into the situation since I only see him once a week? I want to put my delulu mind to rest, and if he does not reciprocate, I can focus on working out instead of scouting for him. He’s a good motivator, may I add. Thanks for your input.

I see nothing wrong with your plan honestly to just move to the machine next to him and making the first move. He is probably interested maybe just doesn't want to look like a gym creep. It's possible he isn't and he just thinks you're cute but I see no reason not to find out. Honestly with how things have turned in today's world I wish more girls were willing to make the first move.
gym isn't a place to date or flirt
he is there to work on his body n focus
u r there for the same reason
let the guy work out in peace
if u r really that serious then I recommend approaching him outside of the gym
many guys find it a big turn off when asked out or flirted with in gym
Just do it and say till "hi" and nothing more. Go with the flow after that
