Is my gym crush interested?

There's this guy at the gym which I have been seeing there for the past couple of months. I secretly have a crush on him and am confused on whether he is interested or not. I'm the type of person who is extremely shy when I like someone and have not smiled at him or shown that I am interested other than looking at him when he looks over. I catch him looking over my way frequently and he sometimes is around the machines that I'm using when I'm in the weights section. There have been a couple of guys that come and talk to me when he's around but he just stares and continues to hold my gaze when look over. He also looks at me when girls talk to him which I presume is either a coincidence or its because he wants to catch me looking : )

Here's my ultimate problem though..He doesn't smile back when he looks at me and I don't either (maybe that's why?). He does hold eye contact for a few seconds but then I look away because I'm too shy to smile and he never budges either.

I know I should smile at him to show that I'm interested but shouldn't he also make some sort of signal or move if he's interested despite if he is shy or not? I see him about 4 times a week and we leave around the same time but nothing ever happens (no bye's or see ya tomorrow's)...Could it be that he thinks I could be a snob or not interested and that's why he doesn't bother? Or is he really not interested?

I have a feeling he is interested but I'm too nervous to make the first move... advice please!

You know I'm in the exact same boat as you, where I can't tell if he is interested or not. We both don't smile but we don't look like we are mad. I will catch him glance my way and at the same time, ill look away. I've read other stories on here and the best advice I've seen is to "let nature take its course". May not sound like much but if you approach him and it doesn't work out, you'll have to find another gym because its gonna get awkward.
