“… understated smile or gesture…” is not flirting. The point of flirting is to get and keep someone’s attention, albeit subtly. However, if nobody perceives the gesture, especially the intended target, it’s quite simply not flirting.
I use humor. How big i go depends on how hard they’re trying to not notice me. Ell oh ell!
