Pet names for guys that aren't cheesy or momsy?

Guys usually say babe, baby, hun, cutie, sexy, love, loverly to me. But other than sexy - which sometimes feels too strong depending on context - what do men like to be called back? I feel I xabt say babe or babes back if they call me that. And hun, sweetie, sounds kinda momsy to me. Maybe even a little patronising. Esp if guy younger.

So example.

Him: have a goodnight babe xx

Me: Ok (insert name) will do. Speak 2m.

Sexy is OK here. But if I've already said it in convo it's a bit overused. Handsome?

Subconsciously our minds understand the literal, true meanings of words and phrases. I think it was a long term thinking sicko-psycho-pedo who normalized calling your grown adult lover/partner "baby/babe" in order to desensitize the masses to the idea of adults with child lovers. What do you say when you want your grown adult partner to hurry up, or to see things your way?
"Come on, baby."
What are you literally saying? Words don't change their true meanings just because multitudes of people misuse them so often they believe they've changed them or given them multiple meanings and subconsciously you know this. You can say "Come on, lady/sweetheart/my facebackorbelly" but not on baby. Stop calling your grown adult lovers and significant others "Baby/Babe". Calling your man "Daddy" is ok if he's fathering your children. It's not ok if your pretending to be his child. Grown ups should have grown up names/pet names/nicknames. Words have power so use them wisely. If you want a strong, respected, grown a$$ man then treat him as such and give him a strong, respectable grown a$$ pet name. Even if their cheesy like "Superman" at least it's supportive, respectful, and is declaring your grown adult man is super at being a grown adult man which subconsciously is going to have a much more positive effect than calling him a baby

Well yh i get your point. To an extent. I di think words can change meaning though with use and that is why slang dictionaries exist to explain to those that are unfamiliar with the re-use of common words. Take "gay" for example once used very innocently to mean happy, joyous and delightful. Now due to first becoming slang for homosexual it is completely understood to mean heterosexual and impossible to return to use it in its "original" form.
Imagine... oh your baby is looking very gay this morning!
But anyways... I do feel uncomfortable calling a guy babe or baby. But ok if I'm called it. Maybe because I want to feel looked after abd protected by my man? And men tend to feel that way only when they care a lot or have a bond - such as its their baby-.
Hunnie may be OK in a longer term relationship. When u have soothed them through bad days and illness and your compassionate (ahem mumsy) side has come out. It could he endearing then. But in new relationships or casual situationships hun and darling makes me feel like an old waitress in American movies serving the cute younger "hero". Hi hunnie, what can I get you? That's a good choice sweetie.

I doesn't matter if everyone is using "gay" to mean homosexual it still does not change the original, true meaning of the word. It just means it's become socially acceptable to misuse words. I'd even go so far as to say most often it has been done on purpose in order to subconsciously manipulate, and program the people. It is most definitely not an accident. For instance we wake every morning to start our days. You mourn and wake whenever someone dies and 85% of the people I know spend the majority of their days in a daze, like the walking dead, working their way through the weekdays in a weak daze until they are too weakened by the weekend to spend their time and energy on their own personal spiritual growth. This is done intentionally to us so that we do not attain or even realize our full potential and are easier to control. When you write (rite-ritual) words (wards) you spell them out. "The movie you are watching is magic" as the names of the "cast" are "spelled" out and "scroll" across the screen. The advanced technique for writing is known as "cursive". I trust I don't have to explain this one. It is not by happenstance the English language has morphed and been manipulated into the form it is currently utilized as. Words when wielded as a weapon becomes sharp as swords. "Good morning".. I suppose it is good to have a period of mourning but it is not good to mourn everyday of your life.

Nor is it good to call adults "baby" their whole lives, lol. Sorry, it is more important of a subject than people can possibly imagine and it permeates and affects every aspect of our everyday lives. Perception dictates our realities but not the Truth. A person's ability or inability to perceive Truth does not dictate what is or is not True.

All societies, languages and eras have used "babe" derivations for intimacy. Its not pedophilic behavior at all. Its an expression of intimacy that is complimentary and universal.

Guys aren't as picky as women. You're overthinking it. Just pick a name and use it. It's not like you are flying a fighter jet. I suspect women get embarrassed way more easily than men too. Maybe it's because we're not remembering everything as emotionally or constantly trying to think what the other person thinks about what we say/do.

I know. I'm sure babes is fine. It just doesn't feel natural to me. One boyfriend I used to call sexy beast. My latest was a Leo so I'd call him my Lion. But aghh. I'm definitely probably overthinking this!

I’ve only been called “babe” once, very recently, and thought it was a little funny. “Sweetie” is pretty standard and can be used either sincerely or patronizingly, which I think is it’s appeal. “Hun”/“honey” I wholly reject, so….


“Love” was what my (ex) hubbie called me… there’s an irony there I won’t get into.


Beyond that, guys tend to pick out more personalized nicknames with the passage of time… as they get to know and appreciate the girl… though it’s still something that seems to randomly pop into their heads rather than being something they sit and overthink (the was we are right now 😂).
