Guys preferred - pet names?

The guy I like, (who's the subject of my past questions), has begun to call me "hun". It's completely unlike him. I've known him for four months now, and not once has he called me a "pet name". I've never heard him call another girl that, and the only time I've seen him call another girl that on his Facebook was to his old girlfriend. (They broke up last year. Yes, I stalked his Facebook, ha ha.)

Obviously there are guys who call a lot of girls "hun", "babe", etc. But he's definitely not one of them.

So, guys. Do you call girls who aren't your girlfriends "hun", "sweetie", "babe", etc.? If so, do you limit it to girls you're interested in? Do you use it as a friendly, affection term, or is there flirting behind it?

This will be interesting to know for future reference as well!

It's a big step to call a girl by a pet name, whether you do it all the time or not. Some guys just try to flirt with everyone on the chance they can score, but that offends most of the women.

Personally, I only do this with women I'm very close to, or want to be!

It sounds like he reserves this for special someones.

I don't do pet names at all. I do the same thing for girlfriends that I do for friends--nicknames that have to be earned as they have a story behind them. But generic pet names? No. If you haven't earned a proper nickname yet then you get addressed by your name.

I usually just call everyone, man or woman, "dude", "man", or something along those lines, but if it's a girl I like, I try no to call her "dude" or "man" lol. But no, I don't know any guy who has called a girl "hun" or any variant without romantic/sexual intentions.

I don't call anyone by any of that at the moment. I have with girlfriends in the past but honestly I don't know if I'd revert back to using them again in the future. I suppose it's cute to have special names between two people who really like each other though.

I've never used them with friends.. But have *infrequently* used them with girls that I've liked.

You might want to keep watching his behavior. This girl started calling me "dear" all of a sudden and I thought it was odd since she never used that word on anybody, but I noticed that she uses that word on everybody now, so I don't know, maybe he picked it up somewhere.

Everytime I use a pet name on a girl its usually cause I have a thing for her.

i wouldn't call them babe but maybe something more related to their name
