It's as if I never told him I liked him. I don't know why he's doing that. It's hard, because we share mutual friends and go on group outings. But I don't know if I can be friends with him until I find someone else.

That sucks! I'm not sure if he's being clueless to your feelings. Or maybe trying to be kind. Like... wouldn't you feel worse if he ignored you or acted weird now? He's maybe thinking if you two can reset but at same time know where you are at with him it will be OK now. Which is logical. But he hasn't got that twist of emotions that you have that doesn't make it so black and white! So I wouldn't hold it against him. But decide what you need to help yourself.

I've crushed on a guy major and then had to cut off for a while. But then reconnected as friends and I don't even have a crush on him anymore! And sometimes wonder how I even did! But it's hard to be in that moment! So I'd say withdraw for a little until your ready!

Then say no? On his end, technically nothing has changed. You're not dating, he isn't intersted, so nothing will happen. If it's too much for you then communicate that and say no. It's not his job to know exactly what you need to move on, he's probably just trying to not make you feel awkward or scared of loosing the friendship on top of feeling rejected. Legitimately, he's probably just trying to keep your friendship alive. You need to be the one to pause or end it, because expecting him do so isn't realistic.

He is mature and cool about it. Please take a look at the alternatives. He could ignore/reject/avoid you like a High School Teenie Bopper. Or... by his actions, he could say he is flattered but uninterested, and you can remain friends.

I recommend finding another guy and ask HIM out for a date. No one said you have to expect a relationship from a single date. You never know, the guy you ask out could end up being an awesome boyfriend, or it could get the attention of your current crush. Either way, take some action.
