I had a friend that used to ask out every girl he thought was interesting. He got shot down a lot but he also dated a lot of girls. One day we went into a convenience store because he said he wanted to ask out a girl that worked there. He asked the girl at the counter if M was there she said she wasn't but my friend somehow got the girl to tell him M's phone number. He called M on the phone and it turned out there were two girls named M that worked in the store and he was talking to the wrong one. He talked to her for a while and he actually made a date with her.

My friend told me that the worst thing they can do is say no.

So a week or so later I was in a bar and the bartender seemed really nice and I wanted to go out with her. I waited until she got off work and I asked her if I could walk her to her car. As we walked to her car I told her the story about my friend and anything else I could think of. When I finished she looked at me funny so I just said "so wouldja?" I think she was so confused that she said yes and we dated for 5 or 6 months.

I tried to say that his hobbies reflect the wonderful personality traits I can tell he has (even though we had never met). Fell flat. He didn't feel flattered that I was trying to read between the lines of his profile to see his great personality.

If I use a pickup line it wouldn’t go well. I would laugh at the silence of the corny joke. Corny jokes makes me like because they’re ridiculous and who would use them? So I would laugh about that in the middle of trying to use the pickup line.
