Absolutely showing interest is not weird. If he thinks it’s weird then it means he’s not into you.

I wouldn’t play games I would just directly talk to him and tell him you have a crush on him. Is it scary? Yeah. Is there a risk for rejection? Yes.

The problem is that if you wait too long be maybe will just see you as a friend you won’t have to worry about being weird or not. You will have your answer on if he’s into you.

If the answer is yes then you can get started dating to see if you’re good for one another. Maybe you’re nervous but that’s the thrill of it all right. But look if he’s not into you then you have closure and you’re not wasting your time on someone whose not into you, whose never going to make a move on you, and you’ll never have to wonder what it could have been.

On the other hand if he does have interest in you, crushes can come and go as you know. He could start to find another girl attractive if another girl doesn’t outright make a move on him. This is especially possible if there isn’t a lot of convenient times to talk to him. I’m sure you’re not the only person whose interested in him.

All in all sometimes even if there isn’t any interest yet sometimes by telling someone it can spark it. Maybe even after a few dates they may start to see you differently.

Ah man I get your nerves, shooting your shot with a crush can be scary! I'd say go for adding him, you guys talk a lot already so it's not total random. Maybe just keep your first snap casual like a selfie or something funny, don't overthink it too much. If he adds you back then cool, you're in! And if not then no biggie, at least you took a chance. Most guys aren't gonna think a follow request is weird unless you're sending nonstop thirst traps or something haha. Just play it chill, see what happens. The worst he can do is not follow back.
