What are your thoughts on the Age Gap and why?

So just a general consensus on what people's thoughts are on the age gap either when it comes to dating or friends with benefits. Age is just a number, but it doesn't determine who one is attracted too.

For example, when I was a Personal Trainer, one of my clients and I hit it off. At the time I was 34 and she was 18, and in the gym it was professional, but outside of the gym it was no holds bar friends with benefits relationship. I must say the energy was crazy and some of the most fun I've had up to that point. The tension and desire would build between the both of us at the gym from the physical contact and hands on training routine, but after the gym session was over, the animal sides came out.

Okay so I always date within my age range and what I mean by that is a year give or take. I think for me it is more about relateability. Now that doesn't mean that I would not date someone older that had the same type of likes and goals and could deal with me being younger and not having my life totally put together. For example, right now I am working on my master's degree. Some guys that are much older aren't going to want to deal with me finishing school and starting a career which is time consuming in the beginning and my focus would be on that. If I were a little more established with a job/career and there was a guy or girl that was say 5-7 years older and we really vibed well together than sure I would give it a shot. I am not going to turn down what could be a great match. Generally tho I tend to look around my own age for dating.

That is one great answer, and really insightful. And it does make total sense about putting your life on hold to finish your schooling, not a lot of potential matches could be able to deal with other focuses in your life. Thing is right now your schooling takes priority and even with shared hobbies and goals, that's not your main focus at this point.

Exactly. Once I have my feet under me then it is a whole other ball game. Also the "relateability" part really increases as I am guessing a guy that is say 10 years older has a career as well. So we start to have more things in common not just because of age but stages in life.

You know that's very well said, once your graduation your journey is complete. You can then start and focus on your career as well as you'll have that stability in your life. Also once your schooling is done, you'll be the Career woman who has the world at her fingertips.

I’m pretty much in the same boat. I’m in my last few months of med school so I’m also trying to get my life together. That said I’m not disinterested in romance and I’m also ideally looking for people within my age range. But committed relationships are generally low on my priority list and I got bigger fish to fry lol

Best to have your life in order before thinking of committing to a serious relationship.

It's not so much about the age range as it is about having compatible maturity levels and goals. Age is often an indication of this, but that's not necessarily the case.

For instance, my boyfriend is 14 years younger than me. However, we're more compatible in terms of maturity and goals than my ex boyfriend I had before him who was my same age

For two people to have as big of an age gap as we do and still be so compatible is pretty uncommon. However, I also think it happens quite a bit more than people think. I also think there are many people who have passed on fantastic relationships because they got hung up on the age gap (which is something I almost did)

To date I have never been interested in younger women as far as dating goes. But I have friends in their early 20's to their 60's
