Men: when the women that they care about have a problem how do you solve the problem for the women that they care about?

The reason why I'm asking this question is because I wanted to know from men help the women that they care about solve the problem when the women that they care about are upset or mad or had a bad day or even a bad dream for example: men talks to women that they care about what happend at work or something and the men cheers up the women that they care about with doing some nice please no inappropriate opinions and please appropriate opinions.

I've learned, over the years, that when a woman comes to me with a problem, she doesn't actually want me to solve it. She just wants me to listen while she vents.

On the rare occasion that she does actually ask for my help, then I first give her my opinion on whst she can do, to solve it herself. If she doesn't want to do that, then depending on the issue, I will step in and take care of it for her.
