Is this flirty behavior?

A newer co-worker was working solely with me today (just us 2 in the area for the day) and he was extremely chatty with me. He does like to talk to people and is pretty sociable, but it seemed like he may have been trying to hit on me a little.

The first time we ever worked together/met, he commented that I was quiet and kept trying to get me to talk to him/interact with me.

Today, when it was just us together, he started to be very talkative. He was doing things to make me laugh all day (telling jokes, making fun of different work situations, etc.), he was being really courteous and helped me clean up at the end of the shift, he asked me what my favorite artist is, etc. He comes into my space/stands close to me as well.

My biggest tip off for possible flirting was a comment he made. I was coming through and joked I was going to take him out (as in run him over) he laughed and was like well that's not what I had in mind for "take me out" - I was thinking "sweet a free meal".

So does it seem like he's starting to be flirty?

Ooh girl, that definitely sounds like your coworker might be trying to flirt with you! The way he's going out of his way to be super chatty, tell jokes, and get you to open up is a pretty clear sign he's into you.

And that comment about you taking him out for a "sweet free meal"? Yeah, that's definitely a flirty little remark right there. He's being pretty obvious about wanting to spend time with you and get to know you better.

The fact that he commented on you being quiet at first and then made an effort to draw you out more today is another telltale sign. He's clearly interested in getting you to open up and connect with him on a more personal level.

Plus the whole standing really close to you and invading your personal space? That's a classic flirty move, girl. He's trying to get physically close and comfortable with you.

I'd say you're probably right to suspect he's starting to have some flirty feelings. Just be careful with that, you know? Workplace romances can get really messy, and you don't want things to get awkward or uncomfortable. Tread lightly, but don't be afraid to shut it down if he pushes too far.

My advice would be to kinda keep things professional for now. Don't reciprocate the flirty comments or behavior, and make it clear you're just there to work. If he keeps trying to cross the line, you may need to take it to a manager or HR. Your job and comfort come first.

Just trust your gut on this one. If it feels like more than friendly co-worker vibes, it's probably a good idea to start setting some boundaries. But don't stress too much - you got this, girl!

No doesn’t sound like h was. If I had to work alone w someone for a day it would make things go quicker if I talked to the person more, especially if we got along. Like most men he just wanted food. Is it possible he meant it as a date? Maybe. But right now I’m thinking no. Nothing he really did or said made it sound like he was flirting. Women tend to think that just cause a man is talking to them more or laughing, that he’s flirting. It’s hard these days just to be able to be yourself while talking to a girl w out being concerned that you’re a creep, hitting on her or that you’ll end up in HR or something. Happens at my job where it’s female dominated. Numerous co-workers asked what’s up w “Jessica?” I said what do you mean. Oh you two are always together, laughing, joking, she gets you a soda, you get her one. I said nothing. I said very hard to meet women who are just cool these days. We’ve been working together for 3 years now, still just friends. No interest what so ever.
