So I have a problem. So I’m 18 years old and I’m part of a community/high school band program. There’s one for grade 11 and 12 students and community members, and then there’s one for grades 8 to 10/11 students and community members.
So the first band I’m in the back row and there’s two guys on the other side of me and they both clearly like me a lot like they’re actually obsessed, and one of them I went on a date with a while back, but then I decided I didn’t want anything further with him so I ended it, but I said that we could still be friends
then there’s five saxophones sitting in front of me and they all glance back at me individually without fail every single week
So there’s that.
And then the second band, there’s lots of people who are in that band like me a lot like it’s really obvious. This include the girls and boys. There’s one guy I think he’s grade nine and he’s exactly my type, but apparently the universe hates me so they sent me this guy that is way too young for me. And he clearly likes me like a lot glance at me all the time and try to make eye contact and I like him, but I can’t show him that because I’m not a creep or groomer or pedo and that would be weird and I might as well turn myself in to the police that point so that sucks.
How am I supposed to go on like this when people always staring at me. I walk into a room and people around me stare at me until I sit down. I walk past people and they’re just straight out staring at me. What I’m in a crowded room people’s eyes will find me, if I’m at an event or a movie and then there’s a speaker talking to the crowd they will always lock eyes with me first and find my eyes multiple times while they’re speaking.
And I’m not being narcissistic or self-absorbed. I used to think I was the ugliest person in the world and that it wasn’t deserving of anything. How do I go on like this? I’m not good with eye contact. I’m very awkward in social situations yet.
