I'm curious about female awareness and attitude about cologne on a man. I never really used it before about 6 years ago. It was never really part of my life growing up. Then I was seldom in a place where I would have used it for 15 years as a US Army officer. But even when I left the Army for corporate America, it was never really something I thought about much.
But I'm easily bored, around about January 2019, I started learning about fragrances for men. I was bored again and it was something to feed my brain. My motivation was just to add a little polish to a suit and tie and a decent haircut, a nice watch, good shoes, etc. I figured it couldn't hurt to finish off a professional guy's overall appearance with a unique touch.
Fast forward and as of this moment I own about 80-100 different mens colognes from all over the world in all sorts of different styles for all sorts of occasions and weather. One thing I've learned is that men wearing cologne is pretty normal in Europe. Here in the US though, even in a place like Manhattan, I seldom run into a guy (or woman) in the office or at a bar who's wearing cologne (or perfume). I get compliments on some of the stuff I wear. Not all the time but regularly enough that I know people notice it.
I was just wondering what you ladies in the USA think of cologne on a guy. Nice? Weird? Big plus? Or just a small little polishing touch that says he's making an effort? Something for a mature guy like me or every guy? Or is a man's cologne not even on your radar, meh? Do you even pay attention to a guys personal grooming and how he dresses?

Don’t bomb yourself out use a little on your neck and wrists maybe your head. Some people are allergic to the smells as well as find a sent that suits you. Invest in something nice Axe to many people is obnoxious and makes you smell like a locker room
I'm sure there are women who like a good smelling man, however, I'm highly allergic to fragrances and would probably avoid guys who did wear cologne so my throat doesn't close up and make it hard for me to breathe.
Well OK LOL, I certainly can't argue with that position. Along that line of thought, I've also had negative reactions to wearing fragrances. So it can be used as an offensive weapon when I want to be left alone. Middle Eastern funky ouds handle that problem really well with a lot of Americans who haven't smelled them before. :)
Thanks for adding that perspective.
You're most welcome!
Also, lol at using it as a weapon to be left alone. That's pretty much biological warfare at that point lmao
I hardly ever use them.
