Would it be a good idea to gift a painting to my friend, or would that be lathering it on a bit thick?

I'm interested in this girl we'll call Ash. We're not officially dating right now, but it's pointing in that direction soon enough.

She's having a hard time right now, and I wanted to do something nice for her to lift her spirits.

She enjoys painting, and a while back, she had mentioned painting a scene from a movie for one of her girlfriends who was feeling down. So I painted a scene from her favorite film.

Would it be weird to surprise her with something like that? Or would it be a bit much? Like, we're not dating yet so I don't know if that'd be too much, or not. What do you think?

If your friend likes painting, then yes. If not, then it's not a good idea.
