Taking a dance class and this new guy shows up -- tall, handsome, nice smile -- making a beeline for me as everyone lines up. He takes my hand and we do a few line dances and such. As always there are more gals than guys, so when the instructor has us all pair off I wait to see who doesn't have a partner... and he waits for me to make eye contact with him. He's the only one without a partner (which seems impossible).
With a shy smile he puts out a hand and I can't help but smile as well. I ask his name and he asks mine and we joke around a little while waiting for the instructor to figure out the music to play. It's a long, 5min dance. For the whole thing this cutie just STARES at me really intensely. (Ooof, my goodness.) I know I was blushing but he probably thought it was from the dancing rather than the staring... He was a really good dancer too and we really "cut a rug" so to speak. To help defuse the tension a bit towards the end I showed him one move I'd learned a few years back and he laughed. (The trick was that the move puts you side-by-side rather than face to face bc I was feeling shy at being stared at for the solid five minutes.)
But right after class he very shyly dashed out, grabbing his coat without a word to anyone. Strange.
I'm trying to figure out why such a shy fellow would have stared at me like that for so long. What do you guys think?
