Why do people always say “this means he/she likes/doesn't like you?

There are some more universal things. But everyone’s different…. I usually tell people to be direct. Because what may be a sign of attraction for one person can be different for another.

For instance some women may be very confident around dudes they aren’t really that into because they don’t care what they think. But then be shy and nervous around dudes she’s attracted to. Another woman may show out as well to get his attention.

A woman may be nervous because she doesn’t really like the person she’s talking to. Maybe she’s scared of him for a bad reason, creeped out, or just genuinely uncomfortable. Which may trigger shyness signals. Such as playing with her hair as a calming mechanism doesn’t really mean she likes him.

If you take the totality of the circumstances in context. I can generally give someone a good ideas of whether or not someone likes them. But I can never say for sure.

Good point. I think some people come on here seeking validation rather than truth, so others sense this and satisfy their egos.

I think other people just ask, genuinely wanting the truth and people assume they’re also seeking validation, so they lie to them by telling them what they think they want to hear.

Then again, romance and dating are confusing in general, so maybe no one really knows the answer and no one really wants to admit that they don’t know and also they’re doing their best with what they know of to advise people with.

We say it to appease the person asking whether or not someone likes them. Obviously, we don't know..

We make assumptions based on the information given..

I think many people also Project themselves on others. Don’t get me wrong there is more universal tells.

But if you ask two people for signals you might get two different answers
