Signs of attraction at work?

What are the most obvious/basic attraction signals at work that can’t be general friendliness or being just a great employee?

Unless they’re doing something unmistakably blatant, then I wouldn’t translate certain actions as signs of attraction. Mainly because unless you’re really good friends with the person and/or understand then on a deeper level than just a coworker you mainly see in passing, then there’s always the chance that you’re reading them wrong.


For example, I smile a lot, I’m very friendly, at my old job I’d hang around certain coworkers often, stopping by to chat or sitting with them at lunch. I could walk to the car with them, offer to go grab drinks after work, compliment an obviously new haircut or style, say a nice outfit looks good. I’ve done all of these things, and yet none of it ever carried any romantic connotation. Could a guy (because men were included) have misinterpreted any of my actions? Potentially yes, but that was never my intention. So assumptions just aren’t wise, and to make one I think it’d have to be based off something unmistakable. Like if I were really touchy and flirty with a guy, or I asked for his number. There’s no way you can mistake these moves as me trying to relay interest.

I wouldn't ever do anything too obvious at work. I've been guilty of stealing glances.
