What are some ways to make first contact in a gym?

need or would like to talk to this girl but never talked to her before , but we do live in the same area and seem to know some of the same people

but i don't even know what her name is , i don't think she'd be that surprised if i tried to talk to her there as we 've noticed each other many times and often there at same time

You could try having a conversation. Start small, just say hey, introduce yourself and leave it at that. Next time, you could try asking a bit more. But go into it knowing that it’s a risk, because often times when women go to the gym they aren’t trying to be bothered. However that isn’t the case for every woman, she could be totally welcoming to you trying to chat. That’s why I say to just be prepared. If you’re too reluctant because you’re in a small town, not many (or any) other gyms around, then just forget about it. Try going to the gym at another time or day, just basically giving yourself space to get over your crush if you don’t want to act on it.

feel like we need to have a conversation , at least i do as she's been around a lot and she's really my type , cute brun with a killer bod as she's always at the gym but i'd really like to know what her personality is like to determine if there is any reason in trying to pursue this or not

also i'm not really worried about rejection at this point as we don't exactly have an emotional connection and never been involved , i just noticed her cause she's my type and she just noticed me perhaps cause i always noticed her there , i'm not really looking for a work out partner either but if she wanted to it be ok , but some of the stuff she does is more independent or girlfriend type workout not like she needs me to join in

It’s good that you’re not worried about that, I’ve had hundreds of conversations on this site at this point and too often people fear rejection so much that they gaslight themselves into not even trying. I think starting with some light conversation is definitely the best choice but in all honesty I don't know how great of an impression you’d get about her personality without being able to have a deeper conversation, like on a date. In any case, if I were you I’d just start with the introduction just to see how interested she is in being addressed. Then the time you’d see her following that precious interaction, you could throw out some feelers. Hopefully it all works in your favor.

With gym classes i feel its easy, because we could be working out next to each other's station or can chat before or after class. but when it's free gym, aside from working our nearby or sharing a station, it's a bit harder unless someone connects.

we have been near each other before like that she'd be doing hand weighs , often she's on her cell phone distracted ( my gym had an issue with cell's but still allows people to use them ) but she seems to really notice me and doesn't mind that i'm nearby her
