Is it appropriate for a married man to tell a younger woman she is beautiful?

Ah I've been in a similar situation...well he was much older but he's not with his wife anymore so I guess that makes it a little different.

Basically, you have to watch his next moves. If he pays you special attention and starts flirting with you/hitting on you and making sexual remarks, he probably wants to sleep with you or at least lusts after you a lot, whether he would pursue it or not. But the more he says the more he probably wants to do it.

If he just said you're beautiful and that's it I wouldn't freak out yet. It also depends on the context.

Nope, he was a stranger. I asked to borrow a pen and he said of course. you are beautiful.

Well it sounds like he is probably the type who flirts and all but that is still pretty innocent. If he is a stranger you probably won't see him again anyways so I wouldn't worry.

If the guy is complimenting you without any intentions for having an affair with you, then it's okay. It's normal to appreciate beauty :)

But if he's flirting excessively and having feelings of lust towards you, then it's disguisting.

men who have been married for a long time normally look at young things out and about, but if he is flirting with the intention of dating her then that's inappropriate... once is OK, more than once is flirting/inappropriate

I don't see why not, now if he compliments an article of clothing and then says but it would look better on the floor and you are not good friend and you joke like that then yeah definitely inapropriate

Sure, I mean he still has eyes. As long as he's respectful about it and mindful of how his wife might feel if she were around to hear him say it, then I don't see a problem.
