Why don't some men compliment their girlfriends?

Hi Peeps,

I was just wondering how come some men jsut don't compliment their pretty girlfriends. For example, if she looks good and you know it, why not just say, "hey you look nice"?

Is it hard? Is it embarrassing for you? I would love to get your opinion since my boyfriend is like this. I tell him, Baby you look really good today. Or Baby Great job on your promotion, etc.

Also, if you don't compliment your girlfriend, ever, does it mean you don't thinks she's attractive or you don't think she is great?

I, in no way, meant for a man to compliment a girl on a daily basis. I, too think that is a bit much. I don't do it all the time. Just when I REALLY MEAN IT.

To add to some of these comments. There is nothing wrong with saying something nice to someone. Sometimes that one little compliment can change their whole entire day. They do say a smile is contagious.

In reality tho I am experiencing the same issue. I know my boyfriend is attracted to me. He has no issues with PDA and showing that he loves me around other people. I just never hear "you look beautiful today" even when I go out of my way to look nice. I ask him why and he doesn't have an answer for me. I should also add that it is easier for him to compliment people over social media that he has never met before than to express himself in person. He doesn't do it now that we are together but I have questioned as to why he can tell someone he has never met before that she is beautiful but not his own girlfriend. His reply? ill try harder. I do not know. It doesn't seem like it should be that complicated.

i think it always feels artificial, unless it cmes out without thinking.

I do not understand how compliments are fake. When I tell my man he looks good it is because I love how he looks in that shirt or because I couldn't take my eyes off of him. Even when I give compliments to people in public. It is because I really do like their shoes or their shirt or their hair color. Not everyone is out to get something for themselves. Not everyone has an ulterior motive.

It's not hard. It's not embarassing. It is pointless, though.

No amount of compliments is ever enough. They have a half-life of 3 seconds.

And if you are constantly complimenting her, it makes you look weak (and actually turns her off, because she comes to think you're not being sincere)

Complimenting women is a game that you can never win.

The only winning move, is not to play.

I have to disagree. As a woman, I do not know a single woman who does not like it when their man gives them a compliment. And even then, shouldn't it be based on the actually person. Throwing all women together never worked out for anyone.

Yeah, Anon is right. It's a turn-off. Girls think you're trying to be a "nice guy" and simply saying that because it's what you "have to do". Besides, she should have enough confidence to not rely on compliments. Not saying don't ever compliment her, but not all the time because that's downright annoying.

Maybe he's just not romantic enough, but he probably is thinking that you look nice or smthn but just doesn't feel the need to express it.

If you compliment women too much, they'll think you're needy. Gotta keep them guessing, they love excitement.

You don't need to compliment your partner all of the time but the occasional compliment goes a long way.
