You wrote down his number wrong?

Lets say a really cute guy you like gives you his number, but you write it down wrong. You don't even realize this until you see him a week later.

So you text the guy, obviously get no reply. What goes through your head as this happens? Do you ever suspect that there was an error, or do you just think that he isn't interested and being really rude about it?

when you find out a week later, are you so turned off, you won't be interested in him anymore? or do you just go 'oooops' and pickup where you left off?

Easy ways to avoid this problem include:

Having the person write down his or her own number

Asking the person to check and see that you have written or typed the number correctly

Texting a test message to the number immediately

I'd leave room in my perception of the event for a possible mistake and I keep in mind that I technically have nothing to lose if someone I just met doesn't answer the phone. When seeing the person again, I'd mention the issue with the number and we could continue without missing a beat.

Really, what is there to pick up at if you've just met someone? Sure, you don't have to make introductions all over again, but that's about it unless you invest something of yourself immediately.

I usually do one text and maybe one call after I get a number. I need to hear the person's voice, even if it's just their voice mail. I don't hear back from them. I assume they aren't interested.

Once I find out what the misunderstanding was, I'd just pick up where I left off.
