great question. not because of the question but because of the answers. the guys consistantly automatically assume compliment but the girls consistantly say insult. well seeing as the whole point of communication is the response you get, I'd say to ignore us guys and use something else

I'd say it is a complement. Whether or not the girl wants to be referred to as a flavor or something that could be considered food, is another matter completely.

Of course the men would think its a compliment but to a woman it's really not. If he don't know your name then the right thing to do is introduce himself. You are a lady not a snack.
