Refusing to defend yourself (rather than merely restrain) against a woman who hits you is like refusing to kick a dog that maliciously tries attacks you. You can argue all you want that a human (in most cases) is large enough that they don't have to hurt it, but the dog made the choice to hurt you first. It's well within reason to use force. I don't mean to imply that women are like dogs, just that the intent is more important than size. If someone or something intends to hurt you and you're not willing to respond in kind, it will do just that.

I avoid fights, especially fights I can't win, and I expect everyone else to do the same. If someone hits me they'd better be willing to suffer the consequences -- but that doesn't mean I lack self control. I'm not going to put someone (regardless of sex) in a coma for giving me a bloody nose. xD Girls are not so weak that they're incapable of harming their target, and it'd be a mistake to think otherwise; it doesn't take much force to break a nose, rupture a testicle, or skewer an eyeball. People tend to think that if a girl hits you, it's just going to make a little red mark, but that's often not the case - at least not if she's doing it to hurt you, which is what we're talking about here.

Most men are more adept at combat than women, but that is NOT a valid excuse to hit a guy, nor is it a valid excuse to refuse to retaliate.

That's not really fair, unless the women is bigger than the man, the man should be able to restrain her. It would be a different scenario is the women had a weapon, then by all means, the man should use ONLY the force necessary to remove the weapon and then restrain her.

Your dog analogy is flawed because the dog is always armed, it's teeth are very dangerous and if you don't defend yourself against them then it will end up with you being bitten.

Like I said, it doesn't take much force to do considerable damage to a sensitive target. And since when is a conflict supposed to be FAIR? One person is attacking another, there's nothing fair or decent about that. Women are not as weak as people would like to believe -- a friend of mine lost an eye to girl who was pissed about some insignificant thing. Macho stoicism and restraint sounds nice on paper, but it's not very effective in practice.

I wouldn't touch her if she hasn't hit, or attempted to hit me first, however annoyed I am.

If she tried to slap me because I'd annoyed her for some reason, providing the slap was just going to leave a red mark on my face and sting for a bit I'd just use some force to hold her still, but wouldn't attempt to harm her back.

However if she went at me with a weapon or aiming to cause me serious harm, I'd pound her face into the floor so she doesn't consider doing the same thing again.

A gentlemen can only be a gentlemen so far.

i think that violence is a bad thing, especially in relationships. However, nobody should just stand there and let the "little woman" beat them up should she start it first. That's just wrong.

If she starts it, probably the best solution is to hold her arms down or get away until she's calmer. Nobody should stay in an abusive relationship, male or female.

My ex had been told me that he doesn't like people whose playing the slaping game. It's consider hitting. I never slap him and he never hit me. He also told me that hitting a girl is not good as a gentleman. And until now I still remember his words that will be always reminds me in the future to not ever slaping people.

Self-defense is one thing, but I think there are a lot of cases where a guy could just as easily restrain a girl without hitting her.

If she struck me first, yes, and I would and not have any regrets or worry about any repercussions. Having said that, I have never been placed in the situation and am simply stating how I would react. I consider myself to be a decent guy and should never find myself in a situation where I would get hit by a girl, so if it did happen then she would be the aggressor and would receive back equal to what she sends.

Even in self-defence there is no reason to hit a girl. Restrain her until she calms down, or leave the area she is in. If I see a male strike a female... he will have to deal with me, I don't give a damn who he is.
