If a coworker puts his arm around your waist, is he flirting?

Yesterday I told a coworker I liked his name badge and that it was a good pic of him and he smiled and put his arm around my waist.

Dont read too much into this. He may feel attracted to you, but chances are that he feels very comfortable with you and therefore gestured your compliment. I often touch my female colleagues (not in a sexual or pervy way before anyone thinks and asks) as a sign of affection that I feel comfortable around them and like them as a person.

yeah I agree we've worked together for a while now, I just thought it was sort of a bold move for a coworker, even if he is comfortable with me.

He does it sometimes when he initially sees me? like saying hello, and he also someitmes puts his hand out to shake mine then holds onto it? Do you do this with your coworkers sometimes from being comfortable around them? thanks

I don't do the hand holding thing with the girls at work. But I do put my arm around them, stroke their back or give them a full blown hug. I mean yes it's possible he feels attracted to you and therefore wants to touch you a lot, but again it could be he just is showing affection. Does he do this to other women? If no and mainly you then it's possible he feels attraction. Does he flirt? Does he go out of his way for you? Look out for more signs to give you more answers.

Surely that is not an expression of brotherly love. I do flirt at work but I can never see myslf getting physical to that extent. Definetely step ahead of flirting.

It's definitely flirting, since that could be considered sexual harassment.

If he made you feel uneasy when he hugged you, then that is sexual harrassment. If you don't like his comments or forceful jestures/touching,tell him to stop and that you don't like it. If he does not stop then you need to go to HR and report him. Good luck
