Why do girls hug each other???

Why do girls always hug each other and stuff? Why do they do this?

Hmmm, I couldn't quite get it as well before recently, but now that I'm away from home and my family and I have good friends I do sometimes hug them and it just feels nice. I read somewhere hugging is a kind of psychological need for some people, just something that makes you feel comfortable. Although I don't understand hugging at the first meeting, and I don't really like being hugged by people I don't perceive as my friends. And I don't understand girls kissing each other at all.

I only hug girls that I am comfortable with, not people I have JUST met. I also give hugs and kisses to all extended family members. But, yeah, I hug to say "hi" or "bye" on a more personal level, with close friends...which, being older that close net of friends has become smaller and more mature.

Um because we want to. Men y'all greet each other with a slap on the back, handshake, homie hug, etc. girls just don't do all of that

Because we're more open about showing our affection towards each other unlike guys are with their friends. It's just how we're wired.
