Ex asked if I missed him?

(it was a LDR)We dated for like 6 -8 months and then he suddenly wouldn't answer me or text or call and so I took that as him breaking up with me so he texted me dec. 9th and I never answered him until now and he just asked if I missed him and I don't know what to say considering he kinda just left me without a word and I don't know how I feel other I am angry at him and right now I am not looking for a relationship I am focusing on school and working!

First of all, kudos to you for moving on after his disappearance. Plenty of girls would have cried and felt insecure, but you were so positive and took the right decision. You focused on school, work and on enjoying your life. I like that.

He disappeared because he didn't take the relationship seriously or he found another girl and didn't care to explain anything to you. You were an option among others. As for why he's contacting you now, it could be one of these following reasons or a mixture of them.

1) He couldn't find a great person like you or the girl he was chasing rejected/dumped him and once he felt lonely he thought of contacting you in order to rekindle the love you once had. He is after some ego supply so as to feel wanted by girls, to have your attention and to receive free love. He is throwing you a bait and is waiting to see how you respond. If you ignored him, then you don't want him back in your life, but if you responded in a nice or even a bad way, then that means you're still thinking of him. He basically wants an ego stroke.

2) He wants to know how have you been. Sometimes exes want to make sure you're feeling miserable without them and you're still crying over him.

3) He has another girl in his life, but likes to keep his options.

If you want him in your life again, then it's an oppotunity to respond. If you don't, then ignore all his texts/calls and move on with your life and never look back. Don't be surprised if he calls/texts every once in a while asking meanigless questions or saying stupid things. It's just an excuse to contact you and know your life updates.

I think you have moved on already which is great. All in all, you deserve a better man. :)

P.S. People do NOT change. Hence, a jerk will probably remain a jerk for quite sometime.

I answered him back saying "Josh it didn't obviously work the first time it won't work the second time and right now I don't want a relationship because I am focusing on school and working"

haha he then said oh alright and then said can we be friends and I said I don't know can we and he hasn't answered so oh well
