Being on someones level of attractiveness?

So I know everyone has different tastes but I still believe that people should be on the same level of attractiveness. If a hot guy is with an ugly guy then it's not normal to me. A hot girl with an ugly guy isn't as bad because guys can be players or really know how to get with a girl since girls are more emotional. Guys are visual. Anyways. I think people should be about even in looks. It looks better that way. If someone is an 8 and the other is a 4 then it looks weird. This may sound shallow, but you know it's true. The real question is how do you know if you are the same level of attractiveness

Well, you should take a few things into consideration. Here are reasons why you see people of different levels of attractiveness together. 1). They have been good friends since they were little. 2). They have something in common that brings them together. 3). They could be related and have a close bond. 4). The ugly person is just with the hot person either to get with the opposite sex easier, be popular, or both. 5). The hot person is with the ugly person either to stand out or to make the ugly person be his wingman/winggirl when picking up the opposite sex or both. OR 6). It could be some combination of any of these things. If its with a hot guy and ugly girl, it's #'s 1-6 OR they could be in a relationship where the guy is not shallow and the girl is, OR their not shallow and it's just a coincidence, OR the guy has a thing for ugly chicks.

Good explanation. How would you know if you're on the level though of someone? I have pretty attractive guys (7-9) hitting on me. Not the perfect 10, but guys that are seen as good looking

Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. You gotta look in the retrospect of the opposite sex. Are you a 10 in his eyes. Now look at yourself in the mirror. Do you think you're a perfect 10 yourself? Because what you think doesn't mean your right in other peoples (though some may agree with you but not all). They all have their own tastes. The thing is that you should know is that beauty is really subjective.

The good news is the vast majority of men and women do end up dating people of a similar level of attractiveness. Its known in psychology as the matching hypothesis.

Oh and the idea that ugly guys find it easier to find more attractive partners than ugly girls do is completely laughable, men are no more capable of altering how attractive they are through behavior than women are. Show me proof of women not caring as much about looks as men. I know society generally believes this but its just because women go to extreme lengths not to appear shallow as they generally care more what others think of them and that men like to believe they are in control of any given situation, that they can make women like them. So its just a convenient lie that both sexes keep on pushing.

You don't. As for any individual judging another individual's attractiveness is not objective enough. Just go for the most attractive people who are interested and it should work itself out.

Women definitely like good looking guys. But a man's physical attractiveness has much, MUCH less value to women than a woman's physical attractiveness has to a man. Women feel attracted to men in an almost entirely different way. I guarantee you. Look at strip clubs for example. Male strip clubs exist for women but they are far and few in between and the guys make WAY less money than female strippers. It's different bro. Trust me. I see where you're coming from though.

Its because women have, on average, lower sex drives than men and women can get casual sex easily therefore have less need for things like strip clubs. They still want to date and have sex with good looking men. There is no proof that women are less attracted by looks than men, its a myth.

We want to, but if the guy is average with a HOT attitude it changes and enchances his apperance. Think about rappers, lawyers and doctors. A lot of them are average looking, but most of the to its their attuitude and power that makes them hot

There money and social status makes them more attractive for sure. I'm not saying only looks make someone attractive, women being attracted to rappers doesn't prove they are not attracted to looks like men are.

I never said everyone is exactly equally matched. My points are..

1) Over a population, on average, people date similarly attractive people.

2) The majority of attraction is visual.

3) Men and women care equally or very nearly equally about looks.

Of course you get exceptions but saying some people don't need to work because they can win the lottery doesn't mean we should all quit our jobs and expect to live off of winning the lottery.

Here's a little cheat sheet for you.

Men are attracted to physical beauty, fertility, etc.

Women are attracted to status.

Those are the main characteristics that attract the opposite sex. That's how nature and evolution has designed it. You know that strong feeling you get as soon as you lay eyes on a beautiful woman? Women get that feeling from sensing a high status man or alpha male, whatever you want to call it. Try reading Attraction Isn't a Choice by David Deangelo.
