He says we should hang out, but then never asks?

So this guy that I used to go to high school with (we never really hung out, we maybe spoke several times but I always thought he was very cute) messaged me on Facebook asking how I was. He then said we should go to dinner sometime, and I told him that sounded good to me! Well then he gave me his number and we started texting. He told me that he thought I was adorable and once again said "yeah we really need to hang out soon!" And so I said yeah that I wanted to and told him to just let me know but that I always worked on the weekends. He texted back that we would figure out something very soon. And that was a week ago, and I haven't heard from him since. I don't know if maybe he changed his mind, but I just wanted other people's opinions!

Ive had guys do this alot. Its very common, and I'm not sure why some do it this way. I had a guy do something similar to me, he kept on asking me when I was going to invite him over for dinner? He asked me two times in the same week, without any prodding from me. The second time he said it I told him it sounded good and whenever. Well he never finalized anything and never asked me again. I think the ambigous response from you is where it starts to get iffy. I think that if yoiu had responded back when he said we should hang out together, "How about this Saturday?" or given him a definitive time and day that might have been better. He's indirectly asking you and is afraid of coming out fully and asking you directly for fear of rejection. So the next time he asks you have a day and time in mind, and tell him. If he says no to it then he might be playing you, for what reason I wouldn't know.
