Why would a guy ask for your number but not text?

I met this guy on Friday and he was flirting with me the whole time. Before we left, he asked for my number and I have it to him, but he still has yet to text me. I don't get it. Why ask if you're not interested?

Sometimes guys just like the attention and the ego boost.

A while ago, a girl who was underage, asked me if I wanted to text/call her because she thought I was cute and we talked because I was "just being nice". However, when I got her number, I immediately deleted it because I knew it was wrong to text/talk to an underage woman. She was 17, I was 20.

With you it could be just that he hasn't contacted you yet for fear of coming off as needy or whatever..

If you watch "How I Met Your Mother"..Ted called her the very next day. Sometimes, those "calling/texting" rules, are just a guideline...

did he realize you were only 17 ? depending on his age there could be some legal issues there if he was trying to get into a serious relationship with you but if he was the same age is you I'm not really sure why . it could be he just forgot or maybe wasn't as interested as he claimed

Well, I'm gonna be 18 in like 9 days anyway, lol. He's only 18, so there's not a huge difference in age. Should I say something when I see him or just forget about it?

Well, some guys (especially ones in their teens or 20s) can see getting a girl's phone number as a game. They like the chase and to see how many different girls they can get to give them their numbers. It is immature and usually doesn't happen very often as you get older.

I wouldn't worry about this guy - if he calls great- if he doesn't I'm sure another guy will ask for your number soon.
