Is my guy friend embarrassed of me?

I've been his friend for about 2 years. Although he's not in any of my classes, we have been spending out lunchtime together in the library. However, recently, when there are a lot of people in the library, he just ignores me like he doesn't even know me...

I want to ask him if he's embarrassed by being seen with me, but I don't want to make him feel uncomfortable. And what if I do ask and the answer is 'yes'?!?!

I was in a similar situation once. I was best friends with a guy for a while, we were basically inseparable. One night, he introduced me to his old friends at a party, and the night seemed to be fine. Shortly after, he would say he was busy, he'd find excuses not to hang out with me. We eventually stopped talking completely. I later found out that his friends had made a joke to him about being a chubby chaser (I was fat back then). It was obvious we weren't a couple, but it still embarrassed him. He didn't want people thinking he was dating a fat girl, even though he wasn't dating me. After I lost the weight, he started coming around again, trying to be my friend. Typical.

I would say he's embarrassed by something. Maybe it's that he doesn't want people thinking you two are a couple or something.

Ask him. If he says you embarrass him, then tell him where to go, haha! Don't settle for friends like that.

My guy friend told me that I need to lose weight because he doesn't want to have a picture taken with me in this state. He said it would embarrass him in front of his other friends. I was so heartbroken. But it gave me the necessary motivation to turn my life around. It took me almost a year to get into the perfect shape. And he was very shocked when saw me because we were meeting after 8 months. After a few days he asked me out, and I rejected him. Because he did that to me when I asked him out earlier when I was fat. He gave me a pathetic answer that he doesn't want to ruin our friendship by going out with me. I understood that how shallow his thinking was. Now he's got what he deserved.

If someone is talking to you and spending time with you and then, when people are around, they ignore you, they are most definitely embarrassed to be seen with you.

Why bother with someone (even as a friend) who acts so immature? Find people who are engaged in the relationship to be friends with.
